The "Louie, Louie" Page.
The really funny thing about this song is - IT'S CLEAN! This song has become a real eye opener for many people who grew up hearing it. Just because you grew up being taught something and actually "hearing it with your own ears" doesn't mean it is true. The song teaches each of us, at the least to open our minds!

The significance of Rock and Roll
What made "our" generation somehow different from all the rest? Except in Biblical and other religious and secular accounts there is no mention of the intervention of a music into a lifestyle called by the name of "Rock and Roll." But didn't every generation have "their music" and wasn't that music to them what Rock and Roll is to us?

The Fab Fifties
Remember the days when you pulled up to the pump in the front seat of a car with a metal dashboard and no safety belts? And a couple of guys came running out to your car and one checked your tires while another checked under the hood and a third asked you how much gas you wanted? You told them to fill it. You gave them a five dollar bill and they brought you back a quarter after they finished washing the windshields? Yeah? Then you remember the fifties. When we look back on American history by generation, it can be argued that the 1950's were one of the most fun.

The Super Sixties.
The sixties came to us in two parts. 1960 - 1963 was really a follow up to the late fifties. Then along came the British Invasion. Actually, it was more of a salvation. Elvis was under contract to make movies and was coming out with meaningless songs from what were becoming meaningless movies. How many hits came from "King Creole?"
A vaccum was created. The Beatles were at the right place at the right time. They were quick pressed to come out with an album. They took 12 hours to record the songs they knew from their days in Hamburg. Eight hour days. Playing for eight hours. Learning your trade to the point that you become a part of it. Then, along came Viet Nam. The sixties were a unique time in rock and roll history.
|
The Super Seventies
The seventies were full of Good Vibrations. The pace of rock and roll was quickening. Music was changing. People weren't afraid to try different "gimmicks" to get a hit. This gave us a more diverse look at rock and roll. By 1977, rock was offically 20 yeard old.
