1963 - Manfred Mann played their first-ever show in London
1968 - Otis Redding received a posthumous gold record for (Sittin on) The Dock of the Bay.
1970 - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young picked up the Grammy for Best New Artists.
1977 - Billy Idols band Generation X performed a gig at Englands Leicester University. The show ended in violence as a glass was smashed over bassist Bob Andrews head.
1997 - Englands Queen Elizabeth II knighted Paul McCartney.
2003 - AC/DC performed a concert at New Yorks Roseland Ballroom to celebrate their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
2006 - Drummer Johnny Jackson of the Jackson 5 was found stabbed to death at his home in Gary, Indiana . A cousin of the Jackson family, Johnny performed with the groups live band. He was 54.
